The Sutra IR2 flat iron is by far my favourite flat iron to use as a professional hair stylist. Not only does it look aesthetically pleasing, but it performs so incredibly well, with really great features everyone can benefit from.

Read below for more about the IR2, or purchase here.

I’ve been a hairstylist since 2014, and I have used several different brands over the years. Working on several heads of hair a day requires an excellent and reliable flat iron that lasts for years. Any flat iron that has technology built into the plates that lasts with repeated use for a senior stylist, will certainly last for your personal daily or weekly use. Originally, I was in love with the Pro Sessions Flat Iron from Fixx that Aveda partnered with. Sadly, Fixx discontinued their hot tools, and I was really devastated.

After my Fixx Sessions flat iron died, my hunt for one that performed equally, if not better, began.

I have tried Avanti, Mint, Babyliss, Chi, GHD, Croc, etc. You name it! I finally gave the Sutra IR2 (and all their other levels of flat irons) a try, and fell in love again.

My reasons for loving the Sutra IR2:

-the titanium rose gold plates with infrared heat

-infrared heat warms each hair strand from the inside out, protecting the outer layer (the cuticle), therefore providing the ultimate protection from heat damage (you still need a heat protector though—cause why not do EVERYTHING you can for your hair?)

-since infrared heat is less damaging, your hair looks smoother and healthier with the IR2

-extended cool tips for better control while styling

-temperature control

-auto shut off

-swivel cord (no cord tangles!)

-floating plates (snag-free styling!)

-Sutra products were made by hairstylists

Many flat irons have different variations of ion technology built into the plates. After repeated use, the technology eventually wears off and can cause immense damage to your cuticle. If you’re noticing a lot more breakage with your hair, yet, you’re using a good heat protector, it might be time to upgrade your hot tools.

The benefits of infrared heat certainly do accompany your hair health. If you are an avid flat iron user (whether for straightening or waves), infrared heat is the safest form of heat for your hair.

Not only is the Sutra IR2 the better choice for your health, but it also offers energy consumption reductions, and dual voltage for universal use.

If you’ve made it to the end of this blog post, I sincerely appreciate you. I hope I provided some useful information for the health of your hair, and if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to contact me :)
