Reasons why I ordered Prose:

1. They listed every ingredient option on their website with the EWG score and fully disclose which ingredients are used in your personal formula (Click here to read my blog about EWG)

2. Your personal formula is based on your own individual hair needs and goals, while simultaneously taking into consideration your environmental factors based on your geographical location (AKA water types and climate)

3. You can save money by subscribing and changing the delivery dates for each individual product you are ordering (i.e. I use more shampoo than conditioner, so I would need my shampoo to be delivered sooner than my conditioner—AKA the realest level of customization you can get!)

When my products were delivered, they came in this simple, beautiful box:

Don’t mind my hideous 70’s countertop and unfinished trimwork. But the box itself was so minimalist, and fully recyclable, including the interior contents. I cut the bottles off in the image because I wasn’t computer-skilled enough to blur out my postal code that was printed on the label of each bottle. Stay tuned for those skill updates! However, each bottle came safely in its own cardboard holder, and came with pumps hidden underneath (which are intended for you to save for your next delivery and reduce the need to manufacture extra pumps). The whole box and its contents for safe delivery is entirely recyclable, as well as the bottles — they might even make cute little flower holders if I remove the labels ;)

The products I ordered include:

1. Pre-Shampoo Scalp Mask (I truly didn’t notice a benefit to this product, and have since removed it from my subscription, BUT, I also don’t have any significant scalp issues or imbalances)

2. Shampoo

3. Tinted conditioner for my blonde hair

4. Leave-In conditioner that is also a heat protectant and UV protector

5. Dry Shampoo
   

I have tried them all, and they are all SO amazing. My scalp feels better, my hair feels healthier and stronger, and I don’t feel a residue like I used to. I also feel the need to add that I’ve noticed my hair is significantly less tangled post-shower. I live with well water and although we have a filtration system and a water softener, minerals and metals still accumulate, and I have to say, my hair has been suffering prior to using Prose.

Side note about the dry shampoo: it’s a powder. I’m allergic to all aerosol dry shampoos, and recently developed an allergic reaction to Briogeo’s dry shampoo (a powder) as well. I have been using the Prose dry shampoo for a while now with no allergic reactions and it feels completely unnoticeable in my hair (which I LOVE!)

Further proof in noticing the difference is that in March 2022, I had to stay in the hospital for four days. (I had surgery - I’ll share that story soon). My mother-in-law, Shelley, kindly sent me some shampoo and conditioner that I used previously to Prose, and I absolutely noticed an immediate difference in a negative way. It was interesting to experience this because my old shampoo and conditioner is a fan-favourite. Some might ask why I switched in the first place, well my reasons are listed at the beginning of this article, but to re-iterate: I wanted safer, non-toxic products.

I feel the need to add that in addition to using Prose and seeing a difference, I’m still feeling icky about my skin and have since found a shower head filter that is the easiest thing to add to your pre-existing shower head. My hair game has stepped up drastically, and my skin is improving as well! I also have clients that live in big-city condos that are new, and some that are in new-build subdivisions, that have seen a huge change in their hair and skin since adding this additional filter directly to their showerheads. *Game changer*

One additional thing I really love since changing my haircare to Prose, is how good I feel about using products that won’t cause long-term damage to my skin or the environment. I know they’re safe for me and my family, and I’m reducing my carbon footprint.

What I loved about this, is that I felt welcomed into a new community —which might seem odd but it’s just how I felt. I also felt free to reach out should I have any concerns with my products, knowing they’d make any changes I needed. I immediately felt like Prose genuinely cared about my hair, my happiness, and my mental health (because who needs the worry of feeling discouraged for reaching out when you’re unhappy about your product —amiright?)
