Reasons Why A Showerhead Filter Will Improve Your Hair

I had been seeing ads everywhere for showerhead filters that simply attach to your existing showerhead. These ads claimed major differences for your hair (and skin), and after a client—and friend—of mine decided to use one, I made my purchase and can truly say we’ve both noticed a difference in our hair. Since then, I’ve had multiple clients make the addition to their showerheads, and everyone is quite impressed. Testimonials are also being made about texture in skin, but I’ll focus on hair here only.

I was sold when my friend came in for her hair appointment and her hair hadn’t gone nearly as brassy and dull as it usually would. We both had visibly and physically noticed a difference in her hair in a matter of 7 weeks.

Keep in mind, my friend lives in a NEW high-rise condo building with city water and fresh pipes. The building had a water softener and filtration system, yet, her hair would always be brassy and dull at each touch-up appointment every 7-8 weeks.

She saw ads first, decided to give it a try, and will never go back to a basic showerhead system again.

For myself, I live on well water where hard minerals and heavy metals can still get through our filtration system. This is expected since water is directly pumped from the ground and isn’t treated with chemicals like city water is. But, like I said above, even city water has hard minerals and heavy metals (and chlorine) despite their water treatment systems. If you live on well water and constantly find your hair feeling heavy with residue (or if you’re blonde and can’t keep it fresh after appointments; does it always go orange or green?) then this filter might be the fix for you.

Another friend of mine moved into a new-build house, in a brand new subdivision that wasn’t even done building all its phases. I never noticed any issues with her hair until she moved. She’s also purchased a filter for her showerhead and the difference was immediately noticeable, and by her next appointment 10 weeks later her hair was back to normal and didn’t have that chlorinated green tinge anymore.

Reasons Why You May Benefit From A Showerhead Filter

Reason 1: Your hair feels heavy and gets greasy/oily fast

Reason 2: Your colour gets dull very fast (or changes) after you just spent your hard earned money at the salon

Reason 3: Your hair tangles very easily no matter what you do

Reason 4: Your skin and hair feel dry after every shower

Keep in mind, if you’re currently using generic shampoo and conditioner, you’re not helping your hair AT ALL. A filter can only do so much. You may notice a difference without switching haircare products, but you won’t notice it as much as someone who’s using better products and tools. If you’re thinking of changing up your haircare routine and products overall, check out my Prose Haircare blog post. Switching to a better shampoo and conditioner regime (especially a brand like Prose that’s non-toxic and environmentally conscious) will also drastically improve your hair health.
